Pictures of Your Kids as You See Them

dsc_7127 Going in for kids portraits can be so disappointing. It always feels so limited. You get a 12×12 room, one or two pre-chosen backgrounds, and a young photographer – who’s not a mom and doesn’t know how to work with kids. It’s so posed; it’s not natural light; it’s not your child.

I’ve been there before. I have 2 kids of my own. I’ve made many trips to the mall studios and come away with pictures that do little more than provide a record of my family’s existence. Sure, they might look cute, but none of us had any fun, and the pictures aren’t really them.

What if it didn’t have to be that way?

What if you could get pictures of your kids as you see them? What if you could bring your kids out to their favorite spot and get pictures of them there? What if you could work with a mom who understands and expects kids to be goofy and naughty? What if your session could actually be fun, for a change?

funny My goal as a photographer is to help you keep those childhood moments forever – because you can’t keep your children forever. As parents, you see the baby in your child. Those moments pass by so quickly. Pictures make you realize your kids are growing, and that’s why you need them!

When I work with families to create portraits of their children, I understand what’s involved. I can catch a hint from a mom who knows her kids will be stinkers if she stays. I can play games to engage the kids in the process. During your child’s portrait session, we’ll race each other, we’ll sing together, and we’ll explore with one another. I know how to get something out of your kids when they don’t want to do it.

In my many years of photographing children, I’ve come to embrace the unexpected. It’s fun to jump into a photo session thinking, “who knows what fabulous pictures I’m going to get?!” When it’s all said and done, I give you pictures of your child; the child you live with every day.
