SPPA Competition was last week, and I’m happy to announce I earned recognition for excellence with the following image. Thanks, Sue & family for the privilege of working with you!

At the SPPA monthly competition, I was awarded second place in the Wedding category for this photo!

These kids have been so much fun to work with, and it thrills me that they get to be a part of my competition experiences! I think the best part about this photo is its genuine reflection of the children’s personalities. I admit I might tell people where to stand from time to time, but other than that, this moment is genuinely candid. These kids got all dressed up and *gasp* acted like kids! How wonderful! That’s what Lara Grauer Photography is all about – capturing those elements that make people who they are.

I loved hearing all of the feedback. I hope we can incorporate more critiques into our monthly meetings. I get a lot out of it. This is always a great way to get me optimistic and excited about the future! I look forward to making some creative and stunning images for you this year!

I am preparing for my annual entry into the SPPA annual competition. There are monthly competitions with each meeting, which are great fun, and low-key. But each year in February there is a formal competition with certified PPA judges, a nice banquet hall, yummy food, and a chance to view and study some fabulous work from local professional photographers. In addition, this year we’ll be having some work from area high school students on display! I can’t wait! Here is one image I’ve chosen to submit.
